Innovation Lab Director

Job description / Role

Responsibilities

- Contribute to the development of Quality, Methodology and Innovation business plans in line with the strategy
- Develop the operational plan for Innovation Lab in line with the Quality, Methodology and Innovation business plan and Statistics strategic plan
- Implement plans and provide input to Innovation Lab goals that support the overall strategic plans
- Provide input to identify Innovation Lab required projects to meet future demands
- Support in identifying and evaluating risks and provide input on the mitigation plans developed
- Participate in Innovation Lab annual budgeting cycle and process
- Manage Innovation Lab efficiently and within budget, and report accurately on progress made and challenges encountered
- Lead the design and implementation of Innovation Lab policies and procedures covering all areas of activity so that all relevant procedural / legislative requirements are fulfilled while delivering high impact and achieving results effectively and efficiently
- Encourage team and contribute to the identification of opportunities for continuous improvement of systems, processes and practices taking into account leading practices, improvement of business processes, cost reduction and productivity improvement
- Monitor day-to-day activities to ensure compliance with stipulated policies and procedures
- Remain abreast of Quality, Methodology and Innovation leading practice and new trends, and identify recommendations for corrective measures, updates and improvements where required
- Establish working relationships with relevant internal and external stakeholders
- Collect feedback from stakeholders on issues being faced and other requirements in order to identify barriers and develop action plans
- Manage the preparation of progress reports or continuous information and updates direction to all relevant stakeholders to keep them informed of progress
- Actively gain exposure and insights to local market development, business opportunities and the existing regulatory landscape
- Attend related forums, seminars, etc. to enrich network and learn about the latest developments and opportunities
- Manage, guide and assist team to perform operations in accordance with set policies and procedures
- Collaborate with Human Resources function to identify and recruit talent for Innovation Lab
- Set performance objectives, provide necessary support, evaluate / appraise incumbents and provide regular feedback on performance
- Promote a high-performance working environment embracing the organization's values
- Recommend relationships with potential stakeholders to enable and / or improve research practices in order to keep abreast of the latest trends across international statistical organizations
- Guide meetings and workshops with concerned stakeholders to align on potential gaps, issues, risks, and areas for improvement within statistical practices
- Direct focus areas for research and analyses in line with the aspirations, national needs, and international trends and standards
- Assess data pre-processing, data processing, compilations, and analyses solutions as needed, and recommend areas for improvement
- Evaluate and prioritize innovation initiatives in line with the strategy, international trends, and national needs / requirements
- Lead the development of business cases for prioritized innovation initiatives to enable / improve relevant statistical practices and endorse suitable ones
- Identify and define new statistical indicators and solutions in line with specific and innovative methodologies and relevant sources
- Ensure alignment of all concerned functions on requirements and expectations relevant to proposed innovative solutions
- Maintain relationships with external statistics experts and advisors as needed to benefit from technical expertise and enable the implementation of identified solutions
- Assess consolidated reports to evaluate the impact of implemented solutions and recommend areas for improvement

Qualification

- 9+ years of experience in a Statistics Innovation field
- Bachelor's degree in Data Science / Computer Science or equivalent is required
- Master's degree in Data Science / Computer Science or equivalent is preferred
