Job description / Role

The Head of Labs is responsible for leading the commercialization strategy and business development efforts for the laboratory services. This role involves identifying market opportunities, developing strategic partnerships, and driving revenue growth.

The Head of Labs will work closely with the research and development teams to translate scientific innovations into marketable products and services, ensuring the commercial success of Labs.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement a comprehensive commercialization strategy for Labs.
• Oversee the daily operations of all laboratory facilities.
• Identify and evaluate new market opportunities for laboratory services and products.
• Set and achieve business development goals and revenue targets.
• Conduct market research to understand industry trends, customer needs, and competitive landscape.
• Identify potential clients, partners, and collaborators.
• Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including industry partners, government agencies, and investors.
• Work with research and development teams to identify innovations with commercial potential.
• Develop go-to-market strategies for new products and services.
• Oversee the creation of marketing materials, sales strategies, and promotional activities.
• Establish strategic partnerships with academic institutions, industry leaders, and other relevant organizations.
• Negotiate and manage contracts, agreements, and joint ventures.
• Foster collaboration between internal teams and external partners to drive commercialization efforts.
• Develop pricing strategies and revenue models for laboratory services and products.
• Monitor financial performance and adjust strategies to achieve revenue goals.
• Manage budgets and allocate resources effectively to support commercialization activities.
• Ensure all commercial activities comply with relevant regulations and standards.
• Oversee the preparation and submission of necessary documentation for regulatory approvals.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry regulations and best practices.
• Recruit, train, and supervise a team of business development and commercialization professionals.
• Conduct performance evaluations and provide professional development opportunities.
• Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Education:
• Master’s degree or equivalent in a relevant scientific discipline.
• Additional qualifications in laboratory management or a related field are advantageous

Experience:
• Extensive experience in laboratory management and scientific research.
• Proven track record of leading research projects and managing laboratory teams.

Skills:
• Ability to speak effectively with customers, vendors, and employees at all levels within the organization.
• Proficiency in laboratory techniques and equipment.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving and management skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
• Knowledge of regulatory requirements and compliance in laboratory settings.
• Proficiency in budgeting and financial management.
