CBD is embarking on a transformative journey to modernize its use of data and operationalize its data strategy and operating model. The data strategy is underpinned by design principles of revenue generation, increasing operational efficiency, and improving financial and regulatory controls. Effective and well-governed data will also aid in improving the outcomes of various analytics and AI use cases that the bank aims to implement.

We are seeking an experienced Leader in Data Modelling to drive critical elements of the data strategy. The role of the Data Modelling Lead involves overseeing data acquisition, incoming requests, ensuring quality control, and guaranteeing prompt distribution to facilitate strategic data access. This position ensures uniform data availability across departments for better decision-making. It advocates for operational effectiveness, deeper insights, and fosters a culture reliant on data through process enhancement and upholding data accuracy.

Principal Accountabilities

- Oversee the development and implementation of data strategies including data models for structured data.

- Responsible for leading the creation and refinement of data flows and models, collaborating with business and IT teams for alignment with enterprise architecture.

- Establish and maintain data modelling standards to ensure consistency and compliance across the organization.

- Establishes and owns the Conceptual and Logical data models for the bank and liaises with the data engineering team to ensure that the Physical Data models are implemented in line with the defined logical data model.

- Validate business logic extraction documentation and remain as a 'checker' for all future business logic extraction

- Configure and manage data management and governance tools.

- Oversee data architecture (by participation in architecture review towers and conducting Data related SITs) and infrastructure, including software solutions for capabilities such as data modelling, system integrations, and data lineage.

- Responsible for ensuring the coverage of subject areas in the data models are pan-bank and lead the identification of the data owner, data steward, and data custodian tagged to the sub-domains in the data models.

- Proactively manage projects to enhance process efficiency and reduce delivery risks.

Requirements:

- Master's degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics/ statistics, or a related field.

- 15 + years of relevant experience in Data Quality, Data Modelling, and Data Strategy including at least 7 years in positions of progressively increasing managerial responsibilities.

- 7+ years of banking or financial services experience.

- Led at least 2 large data transformation programs end-to-end preferably in large multi-national banks.

- Proficient in communication and cultivating relationships.

- Demonstrates robust leadership with skills in managing stakeholders and justifying data governance strategies.

- In-depth knowledge of data quality standards and global best practices.

- Advanced understanding of business processes and performance measurement methodologies.

- Strong grasp of data lineage, modelling, architecture, and analytics.

- Skilled in establishing and managing KPIs and metrics libraries.

- Exceptional numeric and analytical capabilities.

- Proficient in at least one of these tools: SAP PowerDesigner, ERWin, SQL Database Modeler, Sparx Systems Enterprise Architect or similar.

An Emiri Decree issued by His Highness the Late Sheikh Rashid Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, the founder of modern Dubai, laid the cornerstone of Commercial Bank of Dubai. We started out as a joint venture of Commerzbank, Chase Manhattan Bank and Commercial Bank of Kuwait. A minority stake was held by a few UAE businessmen.
