Senior Accountant

Job description / Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our dynamic team in the real estate industry in Dubai, UAE. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing financial records, ensuring compliance with regulations, and providing accurate financial reporting. This role requires a strong understanding of accounting principles, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. The Senior Accountant will play a crucial role in supporting the financial operations of our organization and contributing to its overall success.

Responsibilities:
- Manage and oversee the daily operations of the accounting department, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger functions.
- Prepare and maintain accurate financial statements, reports, and forecasts in accordance with accounting standards and regulations.
- Ensure timely and accurate month-end and year-end close processes, including reconciliations and journal entries.
- Conduct detailed financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for cost savings and revenue enhancement.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide financial insights and support business decisions.
- Ensure compliance with local tax regulations and reporting requirements, including VAT and other relevant filings.
- Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and financial plans, monitoring performance against established targets.
- Support external audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations for financial transactions.
- Implement and maintain efficient accounting systems and processes to enhance operational effectiveness.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and changes in accounting regulations, applying best practices in financial management.

- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; a professional accounting qualification (e.g., CPA, ACCA) is highly preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a senior or supervisory role, preferably in the real estate sector.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, standards, and regulations, particularly in the UAE context.
- Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems; experience with [specific software used in the company] is a plus.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present financial information clearly to stakeholders at all levels.
- Demonstrated ability to drive process improvements and implement best practices in financial operations.
- Fluency in English is required
