Logistics Manager

Job description / Role

Key Responsibilities:
- Establish and develop logistics strategies and procedures tailored to the unique requirements of mining or oil and gas operations.
- Build and manage logistics operations from inception, including procurement, inventory management, and transportation planning.
- Oversee and coordinate logistics activities to ensure timely delivery and cost-effective movement of goods.
- Negotiate contracts and rates with transportation and logistics service providers.
- Ensure compliance with customs regulations and industry-specific governance standards.
- Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders (procurement, operations, etc.) to optimize supply chain efficiency.
- Monitor and analyze logistics performance metrics and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
- Lead and mentor a team of logistics professionals, fostering a culture of accountability and high performance.

Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field. (Master's degree preferred)
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in logistics management within the mining or oil and gas sectors.
- Proven track record of building and managing logistics operations from scratch.
- Comprehensive knowledge of freight operations including air cargo, water cargo, and land cargo.
- Strong understanding of customs regulations and governance requirements specific to mining or oil and gas industries.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and leadership skills.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret complex data and make informed decisions.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
