ABOUT THE JOB:

Manages projects and supervises all related design and drawing activities. Projects are mainly civil but include also mechanical and electrical. Plans and determines work methods in accordance with established policies and professional engineering standards. Keeps the Maintenance & Project Manager advised of work progress and carries out periodic reviews of completed work. Proposals are subject to full and in-depth review.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• Coordinate and assist in the effective implementation of approved plans across the Musaffah Base within set timelines and budget to facilitate uninterrupted operations.
• Assists in annual budget preparations by estimating annual maintenance and repair requirements; calculating materials usage and providing information on contractor and external service requirements based on annual maintenance plans and coordinate all related activities to ensure they are carried out in compliance with the approved budgets and time lines.
• Ensure compliance to approved plans by team and support the achievement set quality standards.
• Organise and supervise the activities and work of subordinates to ensure that all work within the team is carried out in an efficient manner which is consistent with operating procedures and policy.
• Ensure effective coordination and monitoring of contractor staff and thereby facilitate timely completion of tasks as per required Quality/HSE standards.
• Assists in the development of new project proposals, includes directing and preparing layouts, developing budget estimates, preparing preliminary and detailed designs, collating all required information and presenting package to the Maintenance & Project Manager for review and higher-level approval.
• Assists in management of construction projects, includes overseeing the development of the detailed project drawings interacting with contractors, administering sub-contracts as required and providing assistance in overall management control of the project.
• Accurately determine the construction cost at project inception as the key to setting an achievable budget and assessing project feasibility. Prepare quotation including construction, refurbishment or maintenance concept.
• Provides engineering and related technical advice on construction or related matters, preparing specifications and bills of quantity (BOQ's), overseeing document control activities, liaising with engineers in other sections, etc.
• Carries out other similar or related duties such as providing technical advice, preparation of tender specifications, writing of technical specifications, carry out technical evaluations, assisting with the preliminary survey and design work for construction, including providing preliminary estimates of labour, materials and equipment, checking of in-house and contractor’s drawings.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent from an internationally recognized university.
• At least 8 years' experience in Quantity Surveying and Quality Control in the Gulf region, preferably in the UAE.
• Proficiency in design of steel and concrete structures would be an added advantage.
