About the role

The safety and security of our captains, customers and colleagues is paramount to Careem's mission and is a strategic priority. This role will have a significant impact on the Safety and Security team's mission to make Careem the safest platform in the region by leveraging technology, people and processes.

What you'll do

- Safety and Security Strategy: Develop and execute a comprehensive safety strategy that aligns with Careem's mission to ensure the safety of Captains, customers, and colleagues. Shape and co-create the safety vision and roadmap in collaboration with key stakeholders.
- Policy and Process Development: Create and implement safety policies and processes to drive safety performance and meet business objectives. Ensure continuous process improvement through regular evaluations.
- Incident Management and Investigations: Oversee incident management including response and escalation protocols. Lead investigations into safety and security-related issues, including support for anti-fraud and compliance teams.
- Law Enforcement and Stakeholder Engagement: Maintain and develop relationships with law enforcement agencies and other relevant stakeholders. Drive the implementation of safety and security initiatives across various locations.
- Innovation and Automation: Recommend and implement innovative solutions to address safety and security challenges. Collaborate with operations and central teams to automate and systematize scalable safety processes.
- Thought Leadership and Continuous Improvement: Act as a thought leader in safety and security, influencing internal and external stakeholders. Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the safety and security framework.

Requirements:

The ideal candidate will have a passionate commitment to improving the lives of people, an insane focus on excellence and customer service, and a strong alignment with our core values: being bold, focused, agile, and collaborative. Additional qualifications include:

- Experience: At least 10 years of experience in a corporate security/safety context. Experience in the transportation industry is an advantage.
- Hands-On Experience: Proven experience with designing, implementing, and auditing physical and electronic security systems, travel security programs, and incident management principles.
- Investigations and Anti-Fraud: Desired experience in investigations and/or anti-fraud.
- Project Management: Project management experience is a distinct advantage.
- Operations and Safety: Desired experience within operations and safety and a proven track record of success with metric driven results .

- Problem Solving: Strong problem-solving abilities.
- Organizational & Project Management: Proven organizational and project management experience.
- Communication & Presentation: Strong communication and presentation skills to engage and influence stakeholders and leadership.
- Flexibility: Willingness to respond to out-of-hours issues, if required.
- Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel, and Word) ang Google Workspace is necessary.
- Language: Fluent in English, verbal and written. Arabic language skills are an advantage.
