Senior Heavy Vehicle Diesel Mechanic

Job description / Role

The Senior Heavy Vehicle Diesel Mechanic is responsible for maintaining and repairing heavy vehicles such as trucks and trailers. They are also responsible for diagnosing and troubleshooting any mechanical issues with these vehicles.
- Conduct regular maintenance and service checks on heavy vehicles to ensure they are in good working condition
- Diagnose and troubleshoot any mechanical issues with heavy vehicles
- Repair or replace damaged or faulty parts on heavy vehicles
- Perform routine services such as oil changes, tire rotations, and brake inspections
- Use diagnostic tools and equipment to identify and resolve issues with heavy vehicles
- Keep accurate records of all maintenance and repairs performed on heavy vehicles
- Train and supervise junior mechanics and apprentices
- Communicate with drivers and fleet managers to identify any potential issues with heavy vehicles
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and guidelines
- Order and maintain inventory of spare parts and tools
- Keep up-to-date with new technology and advancements in heavy vehicle maintenance and repair
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Workshop Manager.

- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a heavy vehicle diesel mechanic.
- Proficient in using diagnostic tools and equipment
- Strong knowledge of diesel engines and other mechanical components of heavy vehicles including brands like Mercedes, MAN and Scania.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and diagrams
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work under pressure
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Willingness to work flexible hours and weekends if needed.
