Employment: Full Time

My client a multi-disciplinary Architectural & Engineering consultancy has an urgent requirement to for a Senior Design Manager for their Sports & Leisure Department in Abu Dhabi.

The Sports Senior Design Manager is an important role within the Design Team, responsible for leading and overseeing the design and development of all sports-related projects.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

* Lead and manage the design process for sports assets, from conceptualization to implementation, ensuring the integration of cutting-edge design concepts and functionality.
* Be creative and innovative in the approach to sports facility design - coming up with new and innovative ways to meet the needs of stakeholders and end users, while also staying within budget and schedule.
* Provide innovative design inputs to enhance the user experience, safety, and performance of sports assets, ranging from stadiums and arenas to recreational spaces.
* Ensure alignment of sports designs with brand identity and overarching project goals, contributing to the creation of iconic and distinctive developments.
* Maintain a deep understanding of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in sports facility design, advocating for innovative approaches that elevate our projects.
* Stay up-to-date on the latest trends in sports design, ensuring that the facilities are safe and accessible for all users, and meeting budget and schedule constraints.
* Develop detailed design briefs, master plans, and feasibility studies for sports facilities, taking into consideration user requirements, local regulations, and sustainability principles.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including architects, engineers, and landscape designers, to ensure cohesive design solutions that meet project objectives.
* Engage with external consultants, contractors, and stakeholders to facilitate design reviews, coordination meetings, and resolution of design-related challenges.
* Input to the preparation and review of technical drawings, specifications, and documentation for tender packages, guiding the procurement process and ensuring design intent is accurately translated.
* Monitor project progress, budget, and timeline adherence, implementing corrective actions when necessary to ensure timely and successful project delivery.
* Foster a collaborative and creative work environment, promoting knowledge sharing and cross-disciplinary teamwork among design team members.

Requirements:

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

* Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture, Engineering, or a related field.
* Minimum of 10-12 years of professional experience with a focus in sports facility design, and a demonstrated track record of successful project delivery.
* Comprehensive understanding of local building codes, regulations, and industry standards related to sports facility design;
* Strong knowledge of sports engineering and construction principles;
* Passion for sports and an understanding of how design influences the user experience and community engagement;
* Exceptional creativity and design thinking, with a keen eye for detail and aesthetics;
* Strategic mindset, capable of envisioning long-term impact and translating it into actionable design strategies;
* Problem-solving orientation, with the ability to anticipate challenges and propose innovative solutions;
* Strong communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal, to effectively convey design concepts and ideas;
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
* Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines;
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
* Proven leadership and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and teams simultaneously;
* Strong proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, and Adobe Creative Suite;
* Ability to collaborate and build relationships with diverse stakeholders, including clients, consultants, and government authorities; and
* Proficiency in 3D modeling, visualization, and BIM technologies is a plus.
