Employment: Full Time

My client a multi-disciplinary Architectural & Engineering consultancy has an urgent requirement to for a Design Manager for their Highways and Roads Department in Abu Dhabi.

The chosen candidate will be responsible for the successful delivery of projects across the portfolio. This role ensures that all road and highway designs are appropriately planned, designed, and executed to meet the required local regulations and standards. To achieve this, The Roads and Highways Design Manager collaborates closely with project managers, architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure that all road and highway designs are seamlessly coordinated and integrated into all development plans. By ensuring proper coordination and integration, the Roads and Highways Design Manager plays a vital role in ensuring the successful delivery of all projects.

Roles & Responsibilities:

The Roads and Highways Design Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing the design of roads and highways across project portfolio. Key responsibilities include:

* Managing the design of roads and highways from conception to completion, ensuring they are properly incorporated and delivered according to approved development plans - during both masterplanning and detailed design stages;
* Manage the design of roads and highways for all projects in Abu Dhabi from conception, through delivery to completion;
* Ensuring compliance with local regulations related to road and highway design in Abu Dhabi, as well as keeping up to date with changes to regulations;
* Developing and maintaining design standards for roads and highways that comply with local regulations and best practices;
* Providing technical support and guidance to project teams as needed;
* Reviewing and approving design plans and specifications for roads and highways to ensure they meet the required standards and comply with local regulations;
* Communicating project progress and status to senior management and other stakeholders.
* Collaborating with external consultants to ensure that all road and highway design work meets the necessary requirements and standards;
* Conducting site visits to assess and evaluate road and highway design work and identify any issues that need to be addressed;
* Coordinating with project managers, architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure that all road and highway design elements are properly incorporated into all development plans;
* Developing and delivering training programs to improve the skills and knowledge of the road and highway design team;
* Developing and implementing quality control processes for road and highway design work;
* Monitoring project budgets and timelines and ensuring that all road and highway design work is completed on time and within budget; and
* Staying up to date with the latest technologies, materials, and design trends related to road and highway design.

Requirements:

Education and Skills requirement:

Suitable candidates must possess:

* Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, transport planning or a closely related field;
* Master's degree would be ideal;
* At least 10 years of experience in road and highway design, with a focus on real estate development projects;
* Proven experience with large-scale real estate development projects will be given preference. It's also important that candidates have a track record of delivering projects on time and within budget;
* A minimum of 5 years' experience in the UAE/ GCC region.
* Design skills: Expertise in road and highway design software and tools, and the ability to develop and maintain design standards that comply with local regulations and best practices.
* Strong knowledge of local regulations related to road and highway design in Abu Dhabi
* Technical knowledge: A deep understanding of road and highway design principles, as well as local regulations related to road and highway design in Abu Dhabi.
* Strong analytical skills, with the ability to analyze data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions.
* Strong technical skills in road and highway design software and tools.
* Strong attention to detail, with the ability to ensure that all design work meets quality standards and project requirements.
* Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and to prioritize competing demands.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a positive and collaborative attitude.
* Adaptability: The ability to adapt to changing circumstances and requirements, and to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
* Attention to detail: A high level of attention to detail to ensure that all road and highway design elements are properly incorporated into the development plan.
* Communication skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with a variety of stakeholders, including external consultants and contractors.
* Creative problem-solving skills, with the ability to develop innovative design solutions that meet project requirements and identify and address issues as they arise during the road and highway design process;
* Knowledge of local building codes and regulations related to landscape design, with the ability to ensure compliance and obtain necessary approvals and permits.
* Project management skills: The ability to manage projects from conception to completion, including scheduling, and resource management.
