Power Plant Electrician

The Electrician - Power is responsible to carry out installation, maintenance (preventive and corrective) trouble shooting, repair and testing of plant electrical equipment to achieve effective functionality, reliability and efficiency in accordance with established schedules to support the daily maintenance plans as directed by Foreman - Power, while assuring the deployment of Best-Practice guidelines and in compliance with the applicable QHSSE policies and procedures.

• Perform all electrical repair work and emergency call-out tasks on plant electrical equipment.
• Perform trouble shooting, repair and regular preventative maintenance on plant electrical equipment and plant motors (Low and Medium Voltage), repairs on Low and Medium Voltage circuit breakers, transformers, coils and other related equipment.
• Monitor and maintain in good working condition all power equipment to include: low, medium & high voltage electrical network, cage motor, wound rotor motor, transformers, high tension cut-off system, central control room boards, frequency converter, diagnostic tools for insulation measurement, etc.
• Perform hands-on installation and repairs of the electrical power and lighting system, control circuitry, and other building electrical systems.
• Perform maintenance work includes, but is not limited to emergency generator controls, HVAC power and controls, mechanical pump power and controls, fire alarm system controls and devices, panel boards, UPS system, automatic transfer switches, relay controls, programmable control systems for switchgear, medium voltage transformers, motor control centers, convenience outlet power circuits, lighting fixtures and lighting control circuits.
• Carry out major motor repairs and perform overhauls while identifying, selecting and ensuring the correct application of spare parts to fulfill operational requirements as per defined specifications.
• Make modifications to existing equipment in accordance with the planned maintenance schedule in conjunction with contracted personnel under the supervision of the Foreman - Power.
• Read and interprets simple machine sketches and diagnoses flow charts as necessary and use a variety of hand and pneumatic tools for assigned work to ensure effective completion of tasks as per defined quality standards and parameters.
• Select and use the correct tools and equipment for specific jobs, such as pneumatic and hand tools, measurement and testing equipment as per operating procedures and instructions.
• Perform housekeeping during and after completion of jobs.
• Follow all relevant departmental policies, processes, standard operating procedures and instructions so that work is carried out in a controlled and consistent manner.
• Maintain log book as per company’s policies and procedures.
• Comply with the company QHSSE approved policy.
• Perform any relevant additional duties and responsibilities as directed by the Superior(s).
