JOB DESCRIPTION / ROLE

Employment: Full Time

Position Summary:

We are seeking to appoint a member of staff to teach Accounting and Finance in our International Year One (IYOne) in Business.

The NCUK IYOne in Business programme is a first year undergraduate equivalent programme and prepares students for progression to second year (FHEQ Level 5) undergraduate study in business or related disciplines in NCUK partner universities.

To act as a tutor/co-tutor to a group of students and any other duty assigned by the Head of Academics/ Principal.

The suitable candidate must:

• Relevant teaching experience: Normally a minimum of five years (Essential). This experience should relate to the delivery of a Western-style syllabus using Western conventions and methodologies. Significant teaching/qualification management experience at a reputable university may also be acceptable.
• An understanding of UK higher education and the needs and requirements of international students (Essential).
• Experience in academic assessment, standards, and quality assurance procedures (Desirable).
• Direct experience of further and/or higher education in an international context (Desirable).
• Specific experience of education in Qatar (Desirable).
• An understanding and appreciation of private sector education (Desirable).
• Experience of living and working in Qatar (Desirable)
• Education management experience (Desirable).

Academic qualification:
• Business: Masters or equivalent level and/or professional qualifications in a relevant subject area (Essential). For the delivery of the International Year One Accounting and Finance, teachers must be a members of a relevant professional body e.g. CAEW, ICAS, CIPFA, CIMA or ACCA.

Experience:
• Minimum 5 Years of teaching experience (at Secondary/Higher Education level)

Professional Qualities:
• English as a first language
• Have sound content knowledge of the subject area.
• Ability to take up additional responsibilities outside the role of teaching the students.
• Ability to demonstrate how learning can be achieved in the classroom.
• Ability to demonstrate good presentation methods and appropriate use of a wide range of educational resources.
• Good observation skills and ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Have a professional approach to all routine tasks and display a sense of responsibility at all times.
• Focused on the delivery of customer service to everybody on college premises.
• Excellent time management and team-building skills.
• Excellent communication skills.
• ICT literate.
