Responsibilities

The Structural (STR) BIM Coordinator will be responsible for managing and coordinating the structural aspects of Building Information Modeling (BIM) within the organization.

This role involves close collaboration with design and construction teams to ensure that all structural BIM tasks are completed according to project requirements and industry standards.

The STR BIM Coordinator will work closely with the BIM Manager and other discipline-specific coordinators to ensure seamless integration of structural models with other disciplines.

Team Leadership and Coordination:
- Coordinate the structural BIM team, ensuring all tasks are completed efficiently and in line with project timelines.
- Foster a collaborative working environment, encouraging open communication and teamwork among structural and other discipline-specific BIM teams.
- Mentor and support structural BIM team members, helping to develop their skills and knowledge in line with project requirements and industry standards.

Quality Assurance:
- Ensure that all structural BIM deliverables meet the highest quality standards, in compliance with established guidelines and procedures.
- Implement and maintain rigorous quality control processes to verify the accuracy and completeness of structural BIM data.

Stakeholder Engagement:
- Act as the primary point of contact for structural BIM-related matters, liaising with design engineers, project managers, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment and coordination across all disciplines.
- Facilitate coordination meetings and ensure that action items related to structural BIM tasks are addressed promptly.

Reporting and Documentation:
- Prepare and submit all required structural BIM reports, including progress updates, coordination reports, and quality control documentation.
- Ensure that all structural BIM documentation is maintained and readily accessible for review by stakeholders.

Continuous Improvement:
- Identify opportunities for improving the efficiency and effectiveness of structural BIM processes and implement best practices across the structural BIM team.

Structural BIM Model Development:
- Manage the creation, development, and maintenance of structural BIM models, ensuring they are accurate, consistent, and fully coordinated with other disciplines.
- Ensure that structural models comply with industry standards and project-specific requirements, including the accurate representation of structural components and systems.

Clash Detection and Resolution:
- Conduct clash detection and coordinate the resolution of clashes within structural models and between structural and other discipline models.
- Work closely with the BIM Manager and other discipline-specific BIM Coordinators to resolve clashes and ensure that models are fully integrated.

Coordination and Integration:
- Collaborate with design and construction teams to ensure that structural BIM models are fully integrated with architectural, MEPF, and other discipline models.
- Coordinate with contractors and subcontractors to ensure that structural models are aligned with construction sequences and installation plans.

Compliance and Quality Control:
- Conduct routine quality checks on structural BIM models to ensure compliance with applicable standards, guidelines, and project-specific requirements.
- Verify that all structural BIM data, including schedules, quantities, and specifications, is accurate and consistent across models.

Technical Support and Training:
- Provide technical support and training to the structural BIM team, addressing any issues or challenges that arise during the project lifecycle.
- Ensure that the structural BIM team is fully informed of any updates or changes to procedures, requirements, and policies.

Data Management and Reporting:
- Manage the organization and maintenance of structural BIM data, ensuring it is secure, accessible, and up-to-date.
- Prepare and present detailed structural BIM reports, summarizing key findings and recommendations for improvements.

Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in a Relevant Field: A degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related field is essential.
- Advanced Degree (Preferred): A Master's degree in Structural Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline is preferred, particularly for candidates applying for roles in large-scale and complex projects.
- Large-Scale Project Experience: Significant experience managing BIM processes in the structural discipline on large, complex construction or infrastructure projects.
- BIM Implementation: Proven track record in implementing and overseeing structural BIM processes, ensuring compliance with industry standards
- Team Leadership: Strong experience leading structural BIM teams, managing compliance checks, and coordinating project deliverables.
- Technological Proficiency: Proficient in BIM software such as Revit, Navisworks, Tekla Structures, and other relevant platforms.
