Material Engineer

JOB DESCRIPTION / ROLE

Employment: Full Time

We are seeking an experienced Material Engineer to join our team in Baghdad, Iraq. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in civil engineering works, with at least 10 years of relevant experience, including a minimum of 5 years as a Material Engineer in structural works involving the placement of steel and concrete.

Responsibilities
• Review and assess documents related to imported materials or manufactured items to ensure compliance with project specifications
• Certify all materials to be used in the works, ensuring they meet the required quality and quantity standards
• Conduct tests on materials and record results on standard forms, detailing the exact location and origin of the materials in the works
• Oversee the certification process of materials and ensure all documentation is accurate and up-to-date
• Manage the materials to be incorporated into the works, including steel and concrete
• Oversee the utilization of material sites and waste deposit sites, ensuring efficient use and disposal according to project requirements
• Conduct tests on completed works to verify compliance with specification requirements
• Ensure that all materials placed in the field meet the necessary standards before approval
• Work closely with other engineers, construction supervisors, and project managers to ensure materials are used effectively and in compliance with project goals
• Provide technical support and advice on material-related issues to the construction team

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in civil engineering works
• At least 5 years of experience as a Material Engineer in structural works involving the placement of steel and concrete
• In-depth knowledge of material specifications, testing procedures, and quality assurance.
• Strong understanding of civil engineering principles, construction techniques, and project management.
• Proficiency in relevant software and tools used in material testing and analysis.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
• Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
• Proficient in Arabic and English
