Senior Software Engineer

Job description / Role

Our client, a leading data management company, specializes in external data orchestration for global financial institutions. We are expanding our team to meet growing demand and transform enterprise data access. We seek a Melbourne-based Senior Engineer (Remote) to improve our product, focusing on security solutions, development, testing, and deployment. You will join a supportive team of engineers, ready to learn and adapt quickly. Attendance at occasional workshops and activities is expected.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Architect, design, and implement scalable services.
• Deploy custom solutions for client use cases.
• Improve privacy technology for compliance with regulations (e.g., CCPA, GDPR).
• Collaborate with stakeholders to translate requirements into engineering plans.
• Communicate project status and challenges to stakeholders.
• Stay updated with industry trends and emerging technologies.
• Develop and integrate performant and highly available external data pipelines.
• Mentor and coach team members, fostering continuous learning.
• Identify opportunities to improve the code base and development practices.
• Be a supportive team player and assist other members as needed.
• Perform other duties as required.

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science/engineering or equivalent qualifications
• 5+ years of professional software development experience
• Proficiency in programming languages such as JavaScript (React), Ruby, Python, etc.
• Experience with web services (JSON, REST, XML/SOAP) and version control (Git, GitHub)
• Familiarity with automated testing (unit and integration tests)
• Experience with global architecture setups and resolving data needs
• Knowledge of system design, security controls, web applications, and distributed systems
• Understanding of cloud architecture and components
• Proficiency with collaboration tools like Jira and Confluence
• Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills
• Relevant work and research experience welcomed
• Understanding of globally distributed teams and asynchronous communication methods.
