JOB PURPOSE :

The job holder supports and helps to drive the strategic direction of the accounting and finance department and supports the overall business objectives of Borouge. The role leads the group financial reporting team and is responsible and accountable for the consolidated group financial statements of Borouge and its subsidiaries in the MEA region, ensuring compliance with IFRS and local accounting standards, and manages the financial reporting to shareholders, local authorities and other relevant stakeholders. The role is responsible for providing technical accounting expertise and guidance to the Accounting and Finance team, to develop and maintain relevant finance and accounting policies and procedures and to manage the statutory audit. This requires regular liaising with tax, treasury, legal and internal audit departments, government authorities, shareholders and external auditors.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Consolidation and Financial reporting
- Ownership of the process of financial consolidation for the Group including monthly and quarterly financial reporting as well as annual statutory financial reporting
- Lead and supervise the preparation of financial statements (including disclosures) and reporting package for the Group for the purpose of the quarterly and annual statutory financial accounts
- Oversee the month, quarter and year end closing processes to ensure timely information is available to enable accurate financial reporting for Borouge PLC and its subsidiaries, including engagement with Borouge PTE to ensure timely reporting from the PTE entities.
- Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting to management, shareholders and local authorities
- Lead and own the financial consolidation and financial reporting for Borouge Group, Borouge PLC stand-alone and its subsidiaries in the MEA region, including analysis of financial results for accuracy and variance explanations whilst also ensuring compliance with international Financial Reporting Standards and statutory reporting requirements
- Review related party reconciliations, to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial data
- Ensure that the Group consolidation system is kept up-to-date, properly maintained and supports the consolidation requirements for the group
- Maintain and develop the Group accounting policies and procedures
- Analyse and review new accounting standards and prepare proposal for revision to accounting policies as well as early assessments of the impact on financial reporting of the group

Audit and compliance with regulatory requirements
- Liaise with auditors and regional Heads of Accounting to plan and manage statutory audit to ensure timely filling of audited financial statements with shareholders and ADGM/ADX
- Drive the implementation of internal and external audit recommendations
- Monitor and ensure compliance with reporting, filing and other regulatory requirements

Business Process and Other Financial Activities
- Lead and drive continuous improvements of functional procedures, processes and reporting accuracy by conducting work value analyses and studies in order to optimise methods and procedures, enhance reporting and increase efficiencies.
- Initiate and lead accounting and financial reporting as well as improvement projects
- Ensure all transactions are well controlled and recorded in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards, local accounting standard and Borouge finance and accounting policies and procedures
- Standardize the reporting process while also working to improve and streamline reporting package and its disclosure
- Finance owner of the Group consolidation system (SAP-BPC)
- Oversee the SAP master Data maintenance to ensure consistency for consolidation purpose
- Assist and support in annual budgeting and controlling of fixed cost for the department

People Management
- Lead and supervise the team, training and educating on policies and procedures
- Manage and lead project teams to achieve project objectives
- Manage and ensure best practice processes are implemented and utilized by the team
- Mentor and support team members in their career development, technical skills and growth
- Provide the team clear guidance and support, as necessary, to enable and empower the members to achieve desired and required outcomes
- Develop Team strengths and improve their weaknesses to determine areas of opportunity and the appropriate steps to improve on them.
- Identify team goals and evaluate team progress
- Develop employee's KPI and monitor their progress and obstacles they face

Requirements:

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

Minimum Qualification
- University degree in Accounting / Professional qualifications (e.g. ACCA, CA, CPA)

Minimum Experience & Knowledge & Skills
- 8+ years relevant professional experience, preferably with several years in a multinational company or a Big 4 firm with proven leadership skills
- Excellent knowledge of accounting standards (IFRS) and principles, financial best practices as well as statutory requirements
- In depth knowledge of corporate accounting in a multinational company, especially in consolidation and financial reporting
- Project management experience is a plus
- Excellent stakeholder management and presentation skills
- Familiarity with SAP and BPC is a plus
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel
