About the Job
- Support activities related to Value Assurance Process (VAP) "Assess" Stage, including visualization (FEL 0) and support to conceptualization (FEL 1) studies for major strategic projects utilizing internal as well as external resources.
- Develops scope of services for feasibility studies by consultants and/or engineering companies and direct the related activities to ensure works are carried out in accordance with the plans and within agreed schedule and cost.
- Develops and updates Company long term development plans for new ventures and business lines, liaises with various licensors to evaluate new technologies, catalyst and chemicals to improve plant configurations, reduce operating cost, improve plant flexibility and enhance product qualities.
- Represents Company in studies, projects carried by other ADNOC Group of companies to discuss and coordinate integration, interface and synergy issues between various complexes and ensures Company requirements are met.
- Participates in research activities carried by Government authorities, environmental agencies, universities and other entities.
- Prepares technical papers regarding Company business and achievements for presentation in various domestic and international symposiums and seminars.

Key Accountabilities

Investment Proposals / Plan
- Support development of Company Long Term Strategic plan to formulate business opportunities that can be used by various divisions to generate their annual plans and budgets.
- Assesses on criteria for leads the analysis of major investment proposal during VAP "Asses" Stage.
- Identify challenges and drivers like increase and/or decrease in supply-demand of a certain feedstock, product or service; Breakthrough, new and emerging technologies; Changes in product specification;
Changing in environmental legislation; for potential business opportunities with significant economic incentives for changes in plant configurations, capacities, product qualities and related systems to enhance Company's revenue.
- Prepare new strategic business opportunities or business lines to enhance Company's capabilities ensuring the implementation of state of the technologies and the most cost effective alternative available to the Company.

Business Development Opportunities
- Conduct strategic business opportunities development taking into consideration the changes in Technology development, environmental regulations, product specifications, market changes and business diversification.
- Prepare studies for investment inside and outside's Company core business and in other sectors where diversification may give better returns or access to new technology or markets, considering all forms of energy needed to meet growing energy demand.
- Interact with other ADNOC Group of Companies for the required inputs for studies completion and to incorporate synergies and optimize investments.
- Screens identified opportunities and economic incentives for changes in plant configurations and related systems
- Initiate or Review strategic business cases aimed to ensure the right frame has been considered and to demonstrate how the expected benefit of an identified business opportunity provide strategic fit to ADNOC Refining.

Assess Stage (FEL-1) Activities' Support
- Provides necessary support to strategic studies' team in reviewing, provide feedback, facts, hard data and/or endorsing project design basis and other projects/engineering deliverables as per approved Roles and Responsibility Matrix during "Assess" stage of the Value Assurance Process (VAP).
- Propose criteria used for investment proposals to drive value creation according to the financial guidelines issued by ADNOC for investment projects.
- Prepare Scope of Services of the identified business opportunities.
- Identify concerned stakeholder, internally & externally, and get their input on the S.O. to effectively addressing all the intended future needs from a strategy study.
- Participates in technical evaluation and subsequent activities during feasibility studies.

Relationships with Licensors and Engineering Consultancy Companies
- Reviews technical proposals, holds meeting with vendors; coordinates participation of concerned divisions.
- Provides advice on suitability, adaptability and path forward for technical proposals.
- Defines areas for de-bottlenecking, upgrading, modernizing and expanding existing facilities or adding new facilities for current and future investment plans.
- Reviews and evaluates Licensors and technology selection criteria for New Project.
- Evaluates Licensors for process technology, most suitable catalyst and finalize process guarantees and reporting for New Project.

Company Mid Term Business Plan (5 Years)
- Assist Strategic Planning & Business Performance Department (SP&BP) to develops Company 5-Year Business Plan and its major activities.
- Initiates and directs meetings with Company various divisions to discuss new Business Opportunities, review and streamline the activities of the plan up to completion.

Coordination & Participation in Joint Activities
- Coordinate with various ADNOC and operating companies involved in developing strategies, investment portfolios and master plans.
- Coordinate inputs from investment proposals which has significant economic impact and require liaison with external partners.
- Maintains close liaison with other Divisions and ADNOC Downstream Directorate on implementation of major projects and provides necessary technical support as deemed necessary during FEL-0, FEL-1.
- Coordinates with other OPCOs to understand the planned future projects having effect on Company's operation, divisions within the Company to incorporate synergies and optimize investments.
- Coordinates key related activities with JV partners, ADNOC Group Companies and other external Government Entities.
- Leads/participates in Special Task Force to nduct technical audits, licensor selection criteria resolving operating problems, process issues, among other studies.

Requirements:

- B.Sc. in Chemical Engineering
- At least 8 years' relevant experience in process and operation of refineries, petrochemical or gas plant industries.
- Good knowledge of Chemical Engineering simulation software.
- Very good knowledge of English language both written and spoken. Knowledge of Arabic is preferable
- Computer literate.
