Job description / Role
Purpose: To manage the compliance, statutory, audit, and tax requirements; to develop the policies and procedures of the Finance Team, while providing support to the Regional Finance Director.
KEY DUTIES:
Finance:
- Review and revise any existing accounting, financial controls and other legal compliance processes in place
- Develop the written policies and procedures of the Finance Department
- Flowchart the Finance Department procedures and communicate to the business
- Develop the Finance Department handbook
- Verify that all finance, regulatory policies and procedures have been documented, implemented, and communicated
Compliance & Risk:
- Direct the development or implementation of compliance-related policies and procedures throughout the organisation
- Prepare written policies and procedures related to compliance activities
- Assess product, financial, compliance, or operational risks and develop risk management strategies
- Ensure compliance with Group policies such as accounting and treasury manuals and anti-bribery policy
- Assess and control risk associated with treasury transactions such as FX losses/gains and preventing blocked cash/ frozen bank accounts
- Conduct periodic internal reviews or audits to ensure that compliance procedures are followed
- Conduct or direct the internal investigation of compliance issues
- Identify compliance issues that require follow-up or investigation
- File appropriate compliance reports with regulatory agencies
- Maintain documentation of compliance activities, such as complaints received or investigation outcomes
- Consult with corporate attorneys as necessary to address difficult legal compliance issues
- Discuss emerging compliance issues with management or employees
- Advise internal management or business partners on the implementation or operation of compliance programs
- Provide assistance to internal or external auditors in compliance reviews
- Prepare management reports regarding compliance operations and progress
- Monitor compliance systems to ensure their effectiveness
- Provide employee training on compliance related topics, policies, or procedures
Audit & Control:
- Management of Group Internal audit reviews and internal controls improvements
- Liaise with external auditors, lead, and assist with the daily management of audit activities up to finalization of statutory accounts
Tax:
- Manage the timely preparation and submission of all tax returns across the different entities
- Manager the tax audits across the different entities
- Perform tax assessment and planning for the region and propose methods to improve tax planning and exposure in the region
Other:
- Review quarterly UK Green house reporting
- Other ad-hoc assignments as required by the Regional Finance Director
Requirements:
- Finance related educational qualification
- Strong verbal, written and report writing skills and the ability to provide key information in a succinct and precise manner
- Numerate and accurate with good analytical and reporting skills
- Excellent spoken and written English
- Excellent planning and organisational skills
- Able to work to very tight deadlines
Desirable:
- Qualified or part-qualified (CIA/CMA /CIMA /CPA/ ACCA)
- IT Literate with strong Ms. Excel skills and accounting software skills
