Legal Counsel

Job description / Role

We are seeking an experienced Legal Counsel to join our client in Dubai, UAE. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing expert legal advice and support to the organization, ensuring compliance with laws and regulations, and managing legal risks.

Responsibilities:
- Provide legal advice and support to the organization on a wide range of legal issues, including contracts, commercial agreements, corporate governance, employment law, and regulatory compliance.
- Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of legal documents, such as contracts, agreements, and policies.
- Manage and oversee litigation matters, working closely with external counsel when necessary.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations, including data protection, anti-corruption, and other legal requirements.
- Conduct legal research and analysis to stay abreast of developments and changes in relevant laws and regulations.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to provide legal guidance and support on business initiatives and strategies.
- Develop and deliver legal training and awareness programs to ensure compliance and understanding of legal requirements across the organization.

Requirements

- Bachelor’s degree in Law or equivalent from a reputable university. Master’s degree or additional legal qualifications would be a plus.
- Admitted to practice law in the UAE with a valid license to practice.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a legal counsel role, preferably in a corporate environment or law firm with a strong focus on commercial and corporate law.
- Solid understanding and experience in contract law, commercial agreements, corporate governance, and regulatory compliance.
- Proven track record of successfully managing legal matters and providing sound legal advice in a complex and dynamic business environment.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively interact and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to think strategically and provide practical legal solutions.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced and demanding environment.
- Proficiency in English; knowledge of Arabic would be an advantage.
